  • Must pass both written and practical tests to qualify as a CoreTrade Foreman
  • Suitable for workers with prior fabrication or construction site experience
Practical:
  • 4 Hrs – Installation and fabrication project
  • Test project includes layout marking, cutting, drilling, and assembly of steel members according to provided drawings
  • Candidates must demonstrate accuracy, correct use of tools and equipment, and adherence to safety procedures
  • Evaluation will be based on workmanship, dimensional accuracy, welding quality, and compliance with BCA standards
Scope of Training/Assessment
Written:
  • 6 hrs (2 evenings 5.30-8.30pm)
  • Basic principles of structural steel fabrication
  • Structural drawings and symbols
  • Types of steel sections and fittings
  • Measurement and marking methods
  • Welding and bolting principles
  • Handling and storage of materials
  • Site safety and good practices
Practical:
  • 2 days (8.30am-5.30pm)
  • Trainees will be briefed on BCA Assessment Criteria for Test Project
  • Trainers will demonstrate layout marking, alignment, drilling, and cutting using appropriate tools
  • Trainees will practice fitting and assembly of beams, columns, and plates per project drawings
  • Emphasis on joint preparation, tack welding, and bolt tightening sequences
  • At the end of training, trainees should be able to produce a structurally sound steel assembly meeting dimensional tolerances and safety standards
